In addition to growing their confidence in English, my past students have found success including by improving by 25% from ELA 20 to ELA 30 and going from struggling with basic sentence structure to writing 15+ short stories.

I am a passionate and tireless educator. Before diving into instruction, I begin by assessing students' abilities, their strengths and challenges, as well as what interests them in or outside of English.

I firmly believe in building on a student's unique, natural abilities while addressing gaps in their knowledge.

One of my strengths is identifying outside-the-box strategies for sparking student motivation and making lessons fun, while being disciplined about honing the fundamentals.

I tailor each tutoring plan and lesson to the individual student's needs and goals. Generally, though, we will focus on the following skills:

- reading comprehension

- critical thinking and imagination

- grammar and syntax

- vocabulary

- spelling

- style, structure, research, and essay-writing

- creative writing

- forms including poetry, short stories, essays, and novels

- close reading and literary analysis (theme, tone, techniques)

- study skills and exam preparation

As we work, I send regular progress reports to ensure you're up to date on your child's progress. I also offer suggestions for how you can best support your child's learning.

My rates are reasonable and affordable, and I can develop ELA curriculum for you/your child if required.

I take payment through PayPal or e-transfer, and I can tutor through Zoom or another online platform.
